Mambalikalathil Sarada Menon prominently known as Sarada Menon a noted Indian psychiatrist has left the world at the age of 98. She was the longest-serving head of the Institute of Mental Health. Born on 5 April 1923 in Mangalore, Karnataka, British India the Psychiatrist and Social worker Dr Sarada Menon died on 5th December 2021 at the age of 98 in Chennai. However, the death cause has not been revealed yet but it is assumed that her age is the reason for her death and it was a natural death. Well, there is no doubt that she had seen the world and the worst time of the same as well because the time that has most of the people have seen was worst and the circumstances are getting worse day by day.

The super Indian lady had done her graduation from the Madras Medical College and did her psychiatry training at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences in Bengaluru. Undoubtedly the nation has lost a gem after all it is the demise of India’s first woman psychiatrist who was honored with many of big and respected awards and when it comes to talking about her awards so she had been honored by Padma Bhushan, Avvaiyar Award, State Best Doctor Award and Government of India Best Employer Award.

However, the list does not end here because except for this she had honored by the International Association of Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Special Award and Rotary Club For the Sake of Honour Award. She is prominently known for Schizophrenia Research Foundation (SCARF ) that has a Mental Health Center located in Anna Nagar, Chennai, along with two residential rehabilitation centers at Thiruverkadu and Mahabalipuram.
